S3 ComputingBuild a computer
  • Identify, describe and choose the most pieces of hardware needed for a system

  • Describe the different parts of a computer system
  • I am able to identify different parts of computers

In this activity, you'll be selecting parts for a computer system.

You have been given a budget of £1000. You must find a new computer system with an octa-core (or better) processor, 16GB of RAM (or more) and at least 1 terabyte (1TB) of storage space. It must be a desktop computer. You may choose to build your own using parts found online, for this you could use scan.co.uk. If you choose to do this, you will need three extra parts: power supply, operating system, and a case (chassis).

You must also find a display for the computer system and a keyboard and mouse. Finally, you must also find a printer and a webcam for the computer system (some computers have built-in webcams).
